How to Use Venomous

Eight crests of elemental energy hold the power to Summon one of eight breeds of elemental dragons. Once every few generations, the eight crests elect eight persons of their choice, endowing them with the ability to summon and control dragons of their crest’s breed, and marking them as contestants in an endless bloodbath as each Crest seeks to dominate the others.

If the Green Crest has chosen you, be warned: it only chooses those whose minds are ever on the future, and those who, though patient, can often wait to strike until it is too late, and the time is already lost.

Venomous

The throaty hiss of a Venomous is much like a massive, tree-dwelling snake, but the sound of it comes from all directions, throwing its prey into fear, confusion, and panic. As it naturally blends in with the forest, it prefers to hunt in wooded areas at dawn and dusk, and though it has a spindly frame, its bite can lower many of the strongest of dragons to the ground to an agonizing death.

When it ventures out of its territory, it is easily evaded, as its venom only hurts other dragons. Yet sometimes evasion is not always possible, or desired, and if so, a fitting sacrifice can be often offered to it so that it may take the life force of its kill back to its master.

A Crest Bearer who has learned to summon Venomous may well find a time and place to attack and force an engagement, but especially when the benefit is too great, an enemy may choose to lose life rather than give you the prey you require.

If needed, be willing to wait patiently, attack with few and weak dragons, and make yourself a target, so that when you are attacked, your sudden defense may be a surprise, and the value of your hunt may skyrocket.

When hunted by a Venomous, if you cannot afford to let it through and you do not have the raw strength to stop it in its tracks, prepare for mass casualties.

When attacking a Venomous, know that either you have chosen a wise time to attack, and will still have a valuable turn, or that you have fallen into the Green Crest Bearer’s snare. If little happens, be gracious, for you are more fortunate than some.
